The green "safety exit" indicator light in public places is an important sign to deal with unexpected accidents. Recently, some citizens reported to the Beijing News that some of the "safety exit" indicator lights in the east underground passage of Xidan intersection and Xidan subway station in Xicheng District were out of order and there were potential safety hazards.
The Beijing News reporter visited Xidan, Tianqiao, Puhuangyu, Shilihe, Dawang Road and other subway stations, and found that the "safety exit" indicator light was not lit and the indicator signs were damaged in many stations.

The failure of some indicator lights in the underground passage of Xidan intersection was reflected and repaired on the same day.
On the morning of August 16, the reporter visited the east underground passage of Xidan intersection mentioned by the public. There are 18 "safety exit" indicators on the walls on both sides of the passage at intervals of about 8 meters. The fault indicators reflected by the citizens were all repaired at this time. According to the staff, all the indicator lights in the channel have just been overhauled recently, and there is a special person to overhaul the channel equipment once a month. However, in the underground passage on the west side of Xidan intersection, although there are security guards standing guard, there is no "safety exit" indicator or logo.
The east and west passages of Xidan intersection lead to the two entrances and exits of the subway station respectively. The reporter entered Xidan Station of Metro Line 1 along the passage and checked the indicator light along five lines. At Xidan Station, there are indicator lights or signs beside the elevators at each entrance and exit, on the walls of underground passages, and on the columns near the trains. However, at least four indicators are not lit, and many indicators are low in brightness or only partially lit.
The reporter reported the situation to the person in charge of the subway station as a citizen, and the other party recorded it and promised to contact the maintenance personnel to check it on the same day.
In view of the low brightness of some indicator lights, the person in charge said that Metro Line 1 is the first subway in China. Due to the early construction time, some equipment along the station is not as advanced as the newly built subway station. "The low brightness of some indicator lights is not a fault, because they are not used for lighting. When there is an accident and power failure, the surrounding light becomes dim, and then the indicator lights can be seen clearly." The person in charge said that the "safety exit" sign posted on the wall has a fluorescent function, which absorbs light at ordinary times and can also emit light in the dark.
At two o’clock in the afternoon, the reporter came to Xidan subway station again and found that the workers with the words "Beijing Metro Electromechanical" printed on their clothes were leaving with ladders on their backs. The reporter noticed that the indicator light that failed in the morning has been repaired.

Shilihe and other subway stations are patrolled every day, but the indicator light is still faulty.
On August 17th, the reporter visited Dawanglu Station on Line 1, Puhuangyu Station and Shilihe Station on Line 14, and Tianqiao Station on Line 8. Compared with Line 1, Line 14 and Line 8 are newly opened subway lines in recent years, and the indicator lights in the stations along the lines are brighter and more densely distributed. However, these sites also have indicator failures and broken signs.
At noon that day, the reporter called Beijing Jinggang Metro Co., Ltd., which belongs to Line 14 subway, and the service hotline of Beijing Metro Operation Co., Ltd., which belongs to Line 1, as a citizen to feedback the fault. In the afternoon, the staff of Puhuangyu Station and Shilihe Station on Line 14 called back and said that the lights and signs in the stations had been thoroughly inspected and would be replaced in the near future.
According to the staff of Puhuangyu Station, after receiving the report, three indicator lights were found to be faulty and two indicator signs were damaged. The maintenance personnel will complete the maintenance in the afternoon. The person in charge of Shilihe River detected that two indicator lights were faulty and four indicator signs were damaged. The indicator signs will be replaced in the afternoon and the indicator lights will be replaced in the near future.
The person in charge of all the sites visited by the reporter said that there are special personnel in the station to overhaul all the equipment every month, and there are also people on duty to patrol in turn every day. Why was the indicator light problem not discovered in time? A person in charge said that sometimes there is a large passenger flow during peak hours, and the patrol personnel temporarily handle other emergencies, which may lead to the interruption of the patrol. Next, the patrol will be strengthened.
Mr. Wu, a citizen, believes that when an accident occurs, the public can evacuate in time according to the route indicated by the "safety exit" indicator light. If the indicator light cannot be repaired in time, it may lead to an accident. "It is not difficult to repair it in time, and it doesn’t cost much. The key is whether anyone notices it." Mr. Wu said that especially in some prosperous business districts, the daily passenger flow is large, and more attention should be paid to the safety of related facilities.
At noon on August 19, the reporter came to Shilihe Station and Puhuangyu Station on Line 14 again. The failed indicator light has been repaired and the broken indicator has been replaced.

In this regard, most subway staff said that they could contact the staff in the station directly, but some people on duty did not know what hotline to call.
