Since 2008, the administrative department of press and publication has severely investigated and dealt with a number of newspapers that published serious false and inaccurate reports.
The main newspapers notified are:
1. The Beijing Times published false reports about China Merchants Bank. On September 11th, 2008, Jinghua Times published a false news titled "China Merchants Bank’s investment in Wing Lung lost HK$ 10 billion". Because the reporter of this newspaper collected the stock price data of Wing Lung Bank in Hong Kong incorrectly, it came to the wrong conclusion that China Merchants Bank lost more than HK$ 10 billion, which caused the report to be seriously inaccurate. This report became one of the incentives for China Merchants Bank’s stock price to plummet on that day, which led to the overall decline of the banking sector. On that day, the market value of China Merchants Bank’s A-share circulation lost 12.75 billion yuan, and H-shares fell by 5.16%.
2. The New Express reprinted the false report about "Sun Yat-sen became a Korean again". On July 31, 2008, Guangdong New Express reprinted a false report entitled "Korean history professor has this research": Sun Yat-sen became a Korean again ". Because the editor in charge of the newspaper is not strict, it directly reprints unverified internet news, which leads to false news from foreign websites appearing in newspapers and being widely reprinted by domestic websites, causing serious adverse social impact.
Three, "Oriental Morning Post" published false reports about the so-called six rescue measures. On October 14th, 2008, Shanghai Oriental Morning Post published a false report entitled "Good policies and continuous goods before the end of the year". Because the reporter of this newspaper has not been verified, he fabricated that the China Securities Regulatory Commission set up an emergency leading group to deploy and implement specific emergency measures; Implement temporary window guidance for major funds, brokers, insurance and other institutional investors to limit short selling; Modify the price limit; The stabilization fund has an initial scale of 90 billion yuan and is ready to stand by; Stop the size reduction; The so-called "six rescue measures" such as "closing the market" and "the draft for the reform of the new share issuance system will be released soon". The article irresponsibly spread such remarks as "favorable policies will be introduced continuously before the end of the year", which seriously disrupted the order of the capital market and caused serious consequences.
Four, "Private Economic News" published false reports about the production of counterfeit drugs by Harbin Pharmaceutical Group. On January 21, 2008, Guangdong Private Economic News published a false report entitled "Harbin Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was kicked out and produced a large number of counterfeit drugs". The false news that "the antibiotic product piperacillin sodium/sulbactam sodium produced by Harbin Pharmaceutical Group Company has been seized by the relevant state departments and ordered to stop production" was reported, which had a great negative impact on Harbin Pharmaceutical Group.
5. Qingdao Morning Post and Huaxi Dushi Bao published false reports about the escort of Chinese ships in Somalia. On January 18th and 19th, 2009, Shandong’s Qingdao Morning Post and Sichuan’s Huaxi Dushi Bao successively published false articles about the escort situation of Chinese ship formations in Somalia, such as "Sharks in Deep Sea Surrounding" and "Sharks Hunting in Haikou". This group of manuscripts came from a freelance writer of Huaxi Dushi Bao, and Qingdao Morning Post purchased it through the agreement of Huaxi Dushi Bao and published it at the same time. Because Qingdao Morning Post and Huaxi Dushi Bao did not carefully check the contents of the articles and did not strictly check them according to the relevant regulations of the state, false news was published in newspapers, which caused serious adverse social consequences at home and abroad and had a negative impact on the reputation of our country and the army.
The responsible person of the General Administration of Press and Publication told the reporter of China Youth Daily that the five serious false and inaccurate reports published in the above six newspapers have caused adverse social impact, seriously damaged the interests of the parties, the public and even the country, and damaged the good social image of the news media and journalists. The General Administration of Press and Publication has ordered six newspapers to apologize publicly, clarify the news facts, investigate the responsibilities of the directly responsible persons and relevant responsible persons, and impose corresponding penalties on six newspapers according to law, including those who fabricate false news in the list of bad business records and restricting them from engaging in news editing and editing.
At the same time, the General Administration of Press and Publication recently issued a notice, requiring the national newspaper publishing units not to publish or reprint unverified social freedom contributions and Internet information, and not to reprint or extract the contents of internal publications. News editors should adhere to the principles of truthfulness, comprehensiveness, objectivity and fairness to ensure the accuracy of news facts.
According to the person in charge, the administrative department of press and publication will continue to increase the handling of false news published by news organizations. Grassroots units and the masses can directly report to the publishing unit or report to the local press and publication management department or the General Administration of Press and Publication if they find that newspapers and periodicals publish false news or use critical reports to engage in extortion.
